Tax Semi-Senior, Full-Time

Stockport

Role Overview:

Bennett Verby, an independent firm of Accountants and Business Advisors based in South Manchester requires a Tax Semi-Senior to join our expanding tax team due to continued growth of the practice. We are a long established business with a modern outlook. We value our employees and offer progression and stability within an excellent and friendly working culture.

Your role as Tax Semi-Senior will include:

  • Preparation of Self Assessment Tax Returns.
  • Preparation of Corporation Tax Returns (CT600)
  • Preparation of forms P11D.
  • Dealing with queries from clients.
  • Dealing with queries from HMRC.
  • Reviewing HMRC Coding Notices and other HMRC Assessments.
  • Advising clients on personal and corporate tax matters.
  • Liaising with Accounts teams to ensure a high standard of client service.

The ideal candidate for the position would have at least 3 years prior experience of working in practice. They should have a good academic background and a willingness to develop their abilities with a forward thinking business. Due to the nature of the role excellent team working skills are imperative together with strong communication skills.

In return, we will offer you a competitive salary plus study package if desired.

BOOKKEEPER

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented bookkeeper to join Bennett Verby, one of the largest multi-disciplinary independent accountancy practices within the North of England.

We will provide you with in house training to support you in your new role. You will join a professional and highly respected team where hard work and commitment are rewarded.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Maintaining Sales/Purchase ledger
  • Taking accounts up to trial balance
  • Communicating effectively with HMRC
  • Responding professionally and promptly to client queries
  • Willingness to travel to clients premises
  • Willingness to undertake bookkeeping tasks at client's premises

Qualifications:

  • Ideally AAT qualified
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a bookkeeping role

You will be expected to demonstrate:

  • A good working knowledge of Sage 50
  • A Good knowledge of VAT and the ability to apply VAT rules and regulations
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Xero would be advantageous

In addition:

  • Hold a clean UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Be able to work well within a team
  • Committed to your own professional development and a willingness to adapt as the department grows
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and with clients
  • Work to deadlines
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management skills

Working week

Monday-Thursday 8.30am — 5.30pm
Friday 8.30am — 4.30pm
(38.5 hours, full time)

Salary

£17,000 to £18,000, dependent on experience
