Semi-Senior/Senior Accountant

Stockport

A position of Senior / Semi-Senior Accountant (dependent on experience) has become available in a leading Stockport based accountancy firm.

As part of the accounts and audit team you will report to a line manager and director. You will perform the following role:

  • Prepare financial statements for limited companies and sole traders from trial balance stage and incomplete records
  • Assist and carry out statutory audits covering audit planning, fieldwork and completion
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients
  • Work and liaise with other members of the audit and accounts team
  • Preparation, review and presentation of client management information as required
  • Calculation and filing of some client VAT returns as required
  • Addressing and discussing with clients any technical accounting issues identified during the course of client work
  • Developing junior assistants in the team by on the job training and helping with queries

You will be part qualified or have just attained your ACCA qualification and have a minimum three years’ relevant experience of working within an accountancy practice.

An understanding and experience of audits and corporation tax returns is beneficial, and you will be technically capable of producing financial statements and management information to a high standard.

You will have strong communication skills (written and verbal) to facilitate extensive client relationship development and have strong IT skills (inclusive of Microsoft Office and Outlook).

You will have knowledge of accounting systems such as Sage desktop and online, QuickBooks desktop and online, Xero and CCH Central (not all required but more is beneficial).

Credit Controller, Full Time

Stockport

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a full time experienced credit controller at a leading North West firm of Accountants.

The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar position within the professional service industry, be self-motivated and should be able to hit the ground running. Experience of Sage Line 50, Microsoft packages, Outlook, Word and Excel is preferable.

Hours are 8.30 until 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 until 4.30 on a Friday

Role:-

  • Contacting Debtors by Email and Telephone
  • Sending Letters and Statements and following up in a timely manner
  • Working with Directors and Managers to resolve any client billing queries
  • Negotiating, setting up and monitoring payment plans for debtors

Required skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including an assertive, helpful and professional telephone manner

We are looking for someone who is available start Mid-September.

Location – Stockport

BOOKKEEPER

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented bookkeeper to join Bennett Verby, one of the largest multi-disciplinary independent accountancy practices within the North of England.

We will provide you with in house training to support you in your new role. You will join a professional and highly respected team where hard work and commitment are rewarded.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Maintaining Sales/Purchase ledger
  • Taking accounts up to trial balance
  • Communicating effectively with HMRC
  • Responding professionally and promptly to client queries
  • Willingness to travel to clients premises
  • Willingness to undertake bookkeeping tasks at client's premises

Qualifications:

  • Ideally AAT qualified
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a bookkeeping role

You will be expected to demonstrate:

  • A good working knowledge of Sage 50
  • A Good knowledge of VAT and the ability to apply VAT rules and regulations
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Xero would be advantageous

In addition:

  • Hold a clean UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Be able to work well within a team
  • Committed to your own professional development and a willingness to adapt as the department grows
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels and with clients
  • Work to deadlines
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management skills

Working week

Monday-Thursday 8.30am — 5.30pm
Friday 8.30am — 4.30pm
(38.5 hours, full time)

Salary

£17,000 to £18,000, dependent on experience
